Purpose of your Position - Non Union
Classification Summary - Union
The Outdoor Sheltering Coordinator participates in and supports meaningful initiatives and partnerships intended to build capacity of community stakeholders, partners, and the public sector system to collectively respond and positively impact the safe and equitable use of public space.
Duties - Union
  • Lead planning efforts to develop and operationalize innovative City projects to mitigate the impacts of those sheltering outdoors.
  • Monitor ongoing projects and propose allocation of resources in support of City initiatives to mitigate the impact of those sheltering outdoors.
  • Assist in the development and operationalization of front-line operating procedures and engagement protocols in support of Bylaw Services Community Response operations.
  • Collaborate with other City Departments, specifically Social Development, to best enable Bylaw Services Community Response Operations.
  • Participate in, liaise and support community stakeholder engagement venues to enable operational efficiencies in support of Bylaw Services Community Response operations.
  • Create and develop community-based strategies that address common goals and outcomes in relation to those experiencing homelessness and sheltering outdoors.
  • Work cooperatively with internal partners to engage and inform the community and stakeholders, respond to public inquiries and manage related issues.
  • Prepare and conduct community presentations.
  • Prepare and present briefing notes, reports, statistics and recommendations supported by research and data analysis of community needs, sector trends and evidence-based practices.
  • Maintain a wide variety of manual and computerized documents, records and file systems using standard and specialized software.
  • Process financial documents and monitor budgets.
