Purpose of your Position - Non Union
Classification Summary - Union
A Concrete Worker prepares ground base, installs concrete forms, and pours and
finishes concrete in the construction and repair of various municipal structures.
Duties - Union
• Prepares and lays out base, digs out required dimensions and compacts ground; installs concrete forms for sidewalks, curbs and gutters, driveways, wheel chair ramps, etc.; sets rebar; places and finishes concrete.
• Measures amount of concrete required and orders concrete.
• Repairs various pedestrian trip hazards by grinding sidewalks; removes and resets paving stones.
• Restores landscaping and cleans up job sites.
• Uses all cement finishing and masonry tools, as well as power equipment such rollers, jackhammers, concrete saws, grinders, etc. Performs routinemaintenance/repairs to keep tools and equipment clean and in safe working order.
• Adheres to all safe work requirements including utilizing proper eye/hearing protection and other required personal protective gear; sets up work zoneperimeter protection (e.g. traffic control signage, barricades, etc.).
