Purpose of your Position - Non Union
Classification Summary - Union
The Transit Service Coordinator plans, coordinates, oversees and supports transit service operations and initiatives to improve the service and expand the transit system, utilization and integration with the City and regions transportation system and plans.
Duties - Union
• Develops and supports strategies and implements plans and initiatives for continuous improvement of transit customer service.
• Monitors service delivery and liaises with BC Transit and the Operator on issues related to transit service delivery, customer service, traffic management, safety and security, and adherence to operating policy and procedures.
• Utilizes technological tools such as bus monitoring systems (AVL, APC) to maximize service quality.
• Provides and coordinates input into route operational design, planning, asset management and capital plans and projects.
• Manages customer service complaints and feedback with BC Transit and the operator.
• Leads and provides input in the development and delivery of marketing plans, strategies, and tactics.
• Monitors and responds to safety and security contracts, incidents and protocols.
• Provides input, research and support to other departments and external stakeholders on transit and integration of the transit system with the broader community transportation system.
• Advises and coordinates transit activities related to City and region Active Transportation, Traffic Demand Management (TDM) and Air Quality plans, actions and initiatives.
• Oversees and may supervise contractors and city staff on transit operations.
• Manages and coordinates capital assets programs and system for maintenance, repair and installation of new shelters, benches and other transit amenities.
• Coordinates Transportation Network companies, shared mobility programs and vanpooling.
• Coordinates multi-modal integration between transit and other transportation modes.
